Letter from the Woodland Heights Leadership

Concerning Recent Community Events

To Our Family and Friends at Woodland Heights Christian Church,

As most of you are aware the Montgomery County Pride Festival is happening at Pike Place in downtown Crawfordsville. Many different activities are scheduled for this event, one of which is the “Glitter and Giggles: Kids Drag Dance Extravaganza” from 4:00 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday. It is advertised as a kids dance party with drag guests.

As we look at the LGBTQ+ movement, we see a movement that rejects the Biblical pattern for human sexuality and marriage laid out in God’s Word as found in 1 Corinthians 6:9-11. We also see a movement that aims to normalize this unbiblical standard of living and sexuality in the hearts and minds of the younger generation. As Christians, we ask ourselves: How do we respond to this movement and other unbiblical events in our culture? The Word of God lays out several points of application for us to apply in our lives during these times.

  • Response #1 – Seek to Know Biblical Truth

  • Response #2 – Seek to Live Out Biblical Truth

  • Response #3 – Seek to Share Biblical Truth

  • Response #4 – Pray

These responses remind us as Christians of several Biblical principles that remain relevant for us this weekend. As we approach this weekend, remember that we are called to be witnesses of the Way, the Truth, and Life. (John 14:6; Acts 1:8) We are called to love our Lord and our neighbor but not conform to the pattern of the world. (Matthew 22:37-39) We are called to share the truth of God’s Word with those around us (Matthew 28:19). We are called to be the salt and light to the world around us. (Matthew 5:13-16)

We recognize that as we approach this weekend, many believers want to know how they can respond to this event. Here are a few ways you can join fellow believers as we respond to this unbiblical event with a Biblical standard of living:

  1. Join us at Woodland Heights Christian Church for a time of prayer from 3:30-4:30 P.M. on Saturday June 22, 2024.
  2. Attend the Ladoga Christian Music Festival from 12-8 PM at the Ladoga Community Park.
  3. Read and apply our study guide: Four Biblical Responses to Unbiblical Events in the Culture. Download this guide below.
  4. Write a letter to our mayor and community leaders in response to this event. Allow your words to glorify the Lord, seasoned with truth and love.

Join us this Sunday as we celebrate our time with the Lord, pray for our community, and study through the Word as we learn what it means to “Dare to Live Differently.”

In Christian Love,

The Leaders of Woodland Heights Christian Church
